Description
This sculpture is one of the four guardian gargoyles that adorn the Pont del Regne, a bridge in Valencia, Spain. Myth tells us that during the day gargoyles were known to stand guard, ward off evil spirits, and frighten away other creatures that sought harm. At night they would come to life and protect those sleeping and vulnerable. Winged gargoyles could fly protecting the village or town around them. My Guardian Gargoyle image was awarded an Honorable Mention in the October 2015 Art League of Alexandria, VA exhibit entitled Superstition & Belief.
